Newington College is a K-12 day and boarding College located at Stanmore in Sydney’s Inner West. Newington college was founded in 1863 and is set on a 25-acre oasis.
Marathon was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Newington College, a highly respected institution, on their latest project. The college needed new facilities to accommodate their significant growth. In response to this, Marathon successfully delivered multiple new classrooms, offices, a covered outdoor learning area, and access areas.
One of the challenges faced during this project was the college’s proximity to Sydney Airport. To ensure minimal disruption to air traffic, Marathon planned the building installation to occur during the air plane curfew, working into the early hours of the morning over three days. This streamlined approach not only met the strict requirements but also prioritised the preservation of the surrounding environment.
The design of the new facilities was carefully crafted to create a strong connection with nature and pay homage to the school’s extensive heritage. The aesthetics of the buildings seamlessly blended with the school’s history, creating a visually appealing and cohesive campus.
Throughout the construction phase, Newington College was able to continue its operations without any disruption. This was made possible through the modular nature of the solution provided by Marathon. The benefits of modular construction, including reduced construction time and minimised on-site disturbances, were evident in the successful outcome of the project.
Marathon takes great pride in delivering bespoke learning environments that enable students to thrive in dynamic learning spaces. The new facilities at Newington College are a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional modular solutions for educational institutions.
